Long-Stay Visa for Students

What is the VLS-TS Student Visa?

The VLS-TS student visa allows you to pursue studies in France for a period of four months to one year. This visa must be validated upon your arrival in France. If you wish to continue your studies after it expires, you may apply for a multi-annual residence permit (carte de séjour pluriannuelle).

Benefits of the VLS-TS Student Visa

  • Travel freely in all countries of the Schengen Area.
  • Work up to 964 hours per year (approximately 20 hours per week) to supplement your financial resources.
  • Access VISALE, a free security deposit service for students.
  • Receive a rental subsidy from the CAF (family allowance fund).
  • Extend your stay beyond the period of validity of the issued residence permit by applying for a multi-annual residence permit.

Multiple-Entry VLS-TS Student Visa

The multiple-entry VLS-TS student visa allows you to travel outside of France and anywhere in the world whenever you wish. However, you must validate your visa to travel outside France beyond three months following your arrival.

  • First Three Months: You can travel freely outside of France and globally with your visa, even if not yet validated.
  • After Three Months: If your visa is not validated and you travel outside France, you will need to apply for a new visa to return.
